EA Sports is a division of video game publisher Electronic Arts. Since 1993, EA Sports has produced several popular game franchises such as Madden NFL Football, NCAA Football, NBA Live and Tiger Woods PGA Tour.
Exclusivity Contracts
Between 2003 and 2005, EA Sports signed exclusivity contracts with NASCAR, the National Football League, the PGA Tour and FIFA Soccer. These contracts stated that EA Sports was the only publisher allowed to utilize the various leagues' copyrights and trademarks, such as team names, players and stadiums, thus effectively eliminating all competition from the marketplace.CNN Money: EA's big deal: Touchdown or fumble?
