E3 2008, formally known as the E3 Media & Business Summit 2007, is an annual video game trade show owned and operated by the Entertainment Software Association. The E3 Media & Business Summit is a closed event for an estimated 4,000 industry insiders.ESA: Governor Perry to Give Keynote Address at 2008 E3 (May 19, 2008) The event provides video game developers with an opportunity to display upcoming software titles, new consoles and other industry-related products.

A Brief History of E3
In 2006, it was announced that E3 would no longer be an open trade show. Due to rising costs, many companies no longer found it financially practical to participate in the expo.GameSpot: ESA to downsize E3?
