Synopsis of the Free Bible Translations as Downloaded by E-Sword
The Bible is divided into two parts. In the first part, called the Old Testament, God's "chosen people" are described. They are known as Hebrews, but are known later as Israelites or Jews. Around, 1800 B.C., God promises Abraham that He would make Abraham's descendants into a great nation. Following many generations, Abraham's descendants become slaves in Egypt. God provides a leader, named Moses, to lead the Hebrews out of slavery and to the Promised Land. During the escape from captivity, God gives Moses the Ten Commandments that is to be the basis of life for His people.
Although God expects His people to live by His commandments and glorify Him, they frequently fall into sin and idolatry. To bring His people back into line, God uses many of His prophets, including men like Elijah, Samuel, Jonah, Isaiah and others. Despite the failure of God's people, God is able to do His will on earth. Besides working at putting His people back in line with God's will, the prophets foretell the coming of the Messiah that would bring peace and prosperity.http://www.twopaths.com/summary.htm
In the second part of the Bible, called the New Testament, Jesus is introduced from his birth, through His life, ministry, death, resurrection, and to His ascension into heaven to be with God, His Father. Jesus is identified as the Messiah and as the Son of God. During His time on earth, Jesus travels from town to town, performs miracles of healing and preaches about the coming kingdom of God. He teaches that the kingdom of God is a spiritual kingdom that will eventually defeat all evil. Jesus tells of His second coming that will bring about the fulfillment of God's kingdom. The Jews had hoped that the Messiah would defeat their enemies on Earth. They were looking for a great military and political leader, which Jesus was not. As the Jews believed that by keeping the Ten Commandments and following the laws given in the Old Testament was sufficient so they reject the teachings of Jesus and saw Him as a threat to their religious establishment. The conflict leads to the crucifixion of Jesus. However, Jesus is resurrected after being dead for three days and is seen by many for 40 days before ascending into heaven.http://www.twopaths.com/summary.htm
Following Jesus' life on earth, Christianity is born through the believers and is lead by many of Jesus' former disciples. One man, who was not a disciple, but a persecutor of Christians, is confronted by Jesus on the road to Damascus. His name is Saul, but he becomes Paul after he accepts Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Paul goes on to write many letters to the various churches he was involved. His writings and the teaching of Jesus Christ form the foundation of church doctrine. Additionally, Paul takes the message of Christianity to the world outside of Judaism.http://www.twopaths.com/summary.htm

Hebrew Word Studies - How and Why - Using the Downloaded Bible to Interpret
In this featured video from the Ancient Hebrew Research Center, Jeff Benner contrasts the thought differences between Eastern and Western cultural thought in how it relates to Biblical translation. More specifically, he takes a word from an English translation of Psalms and shows how the Hebrew meaning can be found. First he shows how it is done going from a King James Bible to a Strong's Concordance. Then he shows how the same can be done using the free Bible download program, E-Sword.
