Even though Jia Xu killed Dian Wei and almost killed Cao Cao, Cao Cao recognizes Jia Xu’s talents and decides to spare his life in exchange for his service. Becoming one of Cao Cao’s strategists, Jia Xu advises Cao Cao to solidify his power in the central plains before tackling Yuan Shao, the strongest warlord to the north. Just then, Liu Bei arrives at Xuchang asking for Cao Cao’s aid. Liu Bei, after becoming protector of Xu Province after Tao Qian’s death, was betrayed and attacked by Lu Bu, whom Liu Bei had given shelter to. Cao Cao and Liu Bei march onto Xiapi to confront Lu Bu.
Dynasty Warriors 7 Walkthrough - Battle of Xiapi
Player: Xiahou Dun. Talk to Cao Cao or Liu Bei to begin the mission.
Mission Objectives: 1.) Defeat Lu Bu.
2.) Cao Cao must survive.
Head east out of your camp and start engaging the enemy with your allies.
Continue heading east to cross the bridge. Defeat the officers in front of the castle gate (marked by green circles).
Head north-west into the camp marked by a green circle. On the way, you will be ambushed. Defeat the ambushing officers, then head north across the bridge into the camp. Use the chains to unleash the flood onto the castle. A brief cutscene will play. Xiahou Dun will lose his left eye to a stray arrow.
Head back to the west castle entrance and rejoin your forces. Zhang Liao of Lu Bu’s forces will start moving towards Cao Cao. Retreat out of the castle and intercept Zhang Liao. Take care of the archers first, then use the regular soldiers to fill your musou while you fight Zhang Liao. Aside from his grapple musou, Zhang Liao shouldn’t be too much of a problem.
Head back into the enemy castle and rejoin your forces. It is time to finally face Lu Bu. Unlike the previous missions, Lu Bu is not as invincible as before. However, he can still be quite dangerous. Take out all the archers to eliminate all distractions. Be careful of Lu Bu’s musou attacks. He has a grapple musou, and a forward AOE musou. Defeating Diao Chan will trigger Lu Bu’s rage mode. If you have unlocked it, Xiahou Dun’s second musou is an aerial AOE. It is useful as a recovery attack if you are juggled into the air.
