The defence was unable to hold back the invading army, and Shu strikes a major victory by killing Wei general Xiahou Yuan. Cao Cao returns to Hanzhong again and signals the army to retreat. The Wei army must capture Mount Tiandang in order to secure a safe escape route.
Dynasty Warriors 7 Walkthrough - Battle of Mt Dingjun Part 2
Player: Zhang He. Talk to Guard to begin the mission.
Mission Objectives: 1.) Defeat Zhuge Liang.
2.) Cao Cao must survive.
Head north-west out of the main camp and jump down the mountain. Join the battle in the centre of the map. The enemy will start retreating, but don’t chase after them. Instead, Ma Chao will start rushing your main camp to the south. Head south to intercept him.
As per usual with Ma Chao, he will have a unit of cavalry with him. Stay on horseback and deal with the cavalry first. Zhang He’s second musou is a dashing grapple that cannot be blocked. Use it to target powerful officers such as Ma Chao.
Now things start to get hectic. Huang Zhong arrives to the west and will try to sandwich your main army to the north. If you haven’t defeated Ma Chao already, leave him and go straight to Huang Zhong to prevent the pincer attack. Normally you should defeat the archers first to make things easier. However, Huang Zhong has a tendency to slip away, so focus on him first. Keep pressuring Huang Zhong to prevent him from reaching his destination.
Return to Ma Chao and defeat him if you haven’t done so already. Afterwards, rejoin the main army. There will be a lot of enemies lead by Zhang Fei and Zhao Yun. Keep an eye out to see if they’re charging their musou attack so you can get out of the way. If you are using Zhang He’s Claws, his moveset consists of forward-dashing sweep attacks that build your musou really quickly if you charge into the enemy mob. Use it to power your first musou attack, which is a forward AOE.
Help the main army advance east and you will run into another enemy army. In addition, they are assisted by a set of arbalests. Ignore the enemy army for now, and go north into the enemy camp. Defeat the soldiers inside the camp, then exit through the other side. Now, you will be behind the enemy arbalests. Defeat the soldiers guarding the arbalests and then destroy the arbalests.
Return to your main army and help them defeat the enemy army you ignored previously. It will be a lot easier to deal with them now without the arbalests shooting at you.
Advance north, then east across the bridge, defeating all the soldiers that impede you. Soon after enemy reinforcements will arrive outside the enemy main camp, lead by Yue Ying. Along with officers, she also brought with her juggernauts. Juggernauts are fire-breathing siege machines. Defeat enemy soldiers to build musou, then use Zhang He’s first musou to destroy the juggernauts quickly.
Head north into the enemy main camp and there will be a lot of enemies, including Zhuge Liang and Yue Ying. With Zhang He’s Claws, however, large enemy mobs work to your advantage since it can help you build musou quickly. Use his first musou to clear the crowd, and his second musou to target individual officers. Be careful of Zhuge Liang’s musou attack, which is a large circular AOE around him.
