After his vanguard was defeated, Guan Yu temporarily withdraws the attack. Meanwhile, the flood subsides and Xu Huang has brought reinforcements for Wei. In addition, Wu forces led by Lu Meng have appeared at the rear flank of Guan Yu’s forces. The alliance of Wu and Wei begins the counter-attack against Guan Yu.
Dynasty Warriors 7 Walkthrough - Battle of Fan Castle Part 2
Player: Xiahou Dun. Talk to Cao Ren to begin the mission.
Mission Objectives: 1.) Defeat Guan Yu.
2.) Cao Ren must survive.
Head south across the bridge and engage the enemy in Xiangyang. To the west end of the map, the enemy is attempting to call reinforcements. Head west and defeat Yi Ji to prevent the reinforcements. You won’t lose the mission if you fail, however. You’ll just have to deal with Ma Chao later on.
Head south and capture the two bases near the centre. The left one is guarded by Guan Suo, while the right one is guarded by Guan Xing, who is a generic. Head south, and Sima Yi will have a couple of catapults constructed. Escort the catapults until you get ambushed by ballistas. Go to the two control towers (marked by green circles). Defeat the enemy officer guarding it to stop the ballistas. There is a bug where the ballistas can shoot into the camp where the control towers are, so it might be frustrating. Just remember that ballistas won’t kill you though.
Ma Liang will attempt to reach the west side of the map to call in reinforcements. Like before, you can choose whether to stop it or not. However if you don’t, you will have to face Huang Zhong. If you choose to defeat Ma Liang, take this chance to take over the base at the south-west corner of the map. Doing so will save Wu’s forces the trouble of doing it, and will allow them to join up with your main army quicker.
Go to the enemy castle and defeat the enemies inside. The inner gate will open and you will face Guan Ping. Use the same tactics that you used to defeat him in the first part of Fan Castle battle.
Head west, then north into Mai Castle to meet Guan Yu. A cutscene will play. Since you will fight him with no distractions, you can defeat him by simply giving him unrelenting pressure. After losing some health, Guan Yu will get a few powerups to make him more resilient. Even so, the above strategy still works.
