Yuan Shao’s defeat at Guandu eventually led to the decline of the Yuan family’s power. Having heard of Liu Bei’s whereabouts, Guan Yu left Cao Cao to rejoin his sworn brother. However, Cao Cao in turn gained the officer Zhang He from Yuan Shao’s force. With Hebei and the central plains under his control, Cao Cao began his march south. First, he conquered Liu Biao of Jing Province with relative ease. Liu Bei, who sought shelter under Liu Biao, began to flee for Jiang Ling to escape Cao Cao. Determined to defeat Liu Bei once and for all, Cao Cao sends an army to chase down Liu Bei.
Dynasty Warriors 7 Walkthrough - Battle of Changban
Player: Zhang Liao.
Mission Objectives: 1.) Defeat Liu Bei.
2.) Liu Bei must not reach escape point.
Head west and start engaging the enemy. Enter the enemy camp and defeat Chen Dao. If you are using Zhang Liao’s twin axes, his moveset contains a lot of sweeping AOE moves, which will be useful to clear the crowd. Additionally, his EX attack with his twin axes give him a temporary boost in attack speed and move speed, which will help you defeat officers quicker to catch up to Liu Bei.
Head west and south to cross the bridge. Head to the far east while ignoring the foot soldiers. Climb the stairs to your right, and defeat Yi Ji and the peasants to proceed.
Exit the small camp through the south and cross the bridge. Defeat Sun Qian and the peasants. Head south, then west and into another camp. Defeat Liu Qi to proceed. Zhang Liao’s first musou is a forward charge AOE attack that can be useful to clear out large amounts of soldiers.
Zhao Yun will appear to the north. Exit the camp through the north and intercept Zhao Yun. He has a unit of cavalry with him. Their horse charge can be annoying when you are fighting Zhao Yun. Stay on your horse to prevent being trampled. Defeat the cavalry first, then concentrate on Zhao Yun. Be careful of his first musou, which is a forward charge attack.
Head west towards the central bridge. A brief cutscene will play. Zhang Fei will defend the bridge.
Use the incoming enemy foot soldiers to your advantage by defeating them to build your musou. Your allies will all help to fight Zhang Fei. Be careful of Zhang Fei’s grapple musou, which also causes AOE damage.
Go south and cross the bridge, then head to the far east, defeating any officers in the way. Turn right and make your way into the camp. You will be ambushed by Zhuge Liang. Aside from his AOE musou, he shouldn’t be too difficult. Quickly defeat him, as Liu Bei will be close to escaping at this point.
Exit the camp through the west and head straight towards the far west, ignoring everything else. Guan Yu will arrive on Red Hare. Since you charged straight here, you will probably be alone and surrounded by enemies. Use Zhang Liao’s first musou to clear the crowd. Additionally, use his second musou, which is a grapple, to damage Guan Yu as well as causing a little AOE.
