Cao Cao’s attack on Tao Qian was relentless, but Lu Bu’s sudden attack on Cao Cao forces him to retreat. Before Tao Qian passed away, he passed on the rule of Xu Province to Liu Bei. The wandering Lu Bu requested asylum from Liu Bei, and Liu Bei agreed to offer him protection. Meanwhile, Cao Cao had rescued the Emperor who had escaped from Chang’an. Knowing that Liu Bei is loyal to the Emperor, Cao Cao used the Emperor to give orders to Liu Bei. In Liu Bei’s absence, Lu Bu betrayed him and claimed Xu Province. Liu Bei requests aid from Cao Cao, and Cao Cao agrees to help him confront Lu Bu at Xiapi.

Dynasty Warriors 7 - Shu Mission 06 - Battle of Xiapi

Player: Guan Yu. Talk to Cao Cao to begin the mission.

Mission Objectives: 1.) Defeat Lu Bu.

2.) Cao Cao must survive.

Head east out of your camp and start engaging the enemy with your allies.

Continue heading east to cross the bridge. Defeat the officers in front of the castle gate (marked by green circles).

Head into the castle. Enemy ballistas on the walls will start shooting down at your troops. Climb up the stairs onto the wall and destroy them. This may be difficult since the other ballistas will shoot at you when you’re trying to destroy one. However, ballistas can only hurt you but cannot kill you. If you are low on health, let the ballista hit you so you can generate musou faster. Use the musou to quickly destroy the ballistas. Afterwards, you can go find a pot to heal up.

Zhang Liao of Lu Bu’s forces will start moving towards Cao Cao. Retreat out of the castle and intercept Zhang Liao. Take care of the archers first, then use the regular soldiers to fill your musou while you fight Zhang Liao. Aside from his grapple musou, Zhang Liao shouldn’t be too much of a problem.

Yuan Shu’s army will arrive as enemy reinforcements in the south-east corner of the map and will charge towards Cao Cao. Head back to the main camp and defend Cao Cao. Yuan Shu is a generic officer, so there is nothing special to worry about.

Head back into the enemy castle and rejoin your forces. It is time to finally face Lu Bu. Unlike the previous missions, Lu Bu is not as invincible as before. However, he can still be quite dangerous. Take out all the archers to eliminate all distractions. Be careful of Lu Bu’s musou attacks. He has a grapple musou, and a forward AOE musou. Defeating Diao Chan will trigger Lu Bu’s rage mode. If you have unlocked it, Guan Yu’s second musou is a AOE attack around him.
