    Dwyane Wade is widely recognized as one of the best all-around players in the National Basketball Association. He was the 2006 NBA Finals MVP and the 2006 Sports Illustrated Sportsman Of The Year. In his rookie season, he finished third for the NBA Rookie of the Year Award to LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony. In 2008, he helped Team USA win an Olympic Gold Medal in Basketball.

    Dwyane Tyrone Wade, Jr. was born in Chicago, Illinois, on January 17, 1982. He attended high school at Harold L. Richards High School and later attended Marquette University. He would lead Marquette to the NCAA Final Four in 2003.
  • Pro Career

    Wade was selected with the 5th overall pick in the 2003 NBA draft by the Miami Heat. He would establish himself as a solid role player in his first season with the team. He would be named to the 2004 All-Rookie team along with fellow superstars Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James. In 2004, the Miami Heat acquired Superstar center Shaquille O'Neal and then in 2006, the duo went on to lead the Heat to the franchise's first ever NBA Championship. For his performance in the 2006 NBA Finals he was named the NBA Finals MVP. Later that year, he was named the Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year. Wade announced on March 10, 2008, that he would miss the rest of the 2007-2008 season.

    Wade is very active in the community, holding an annual basketball camp and starting his Wade's World Foundation.
