Dwight Yoakam

Categories: Entertainment
  • Dwight Yoakam is a Grammy-award winning American country-music songwriter and actor whose "Urban Cowboy" sound helped make him a star. After having trouble breaking into the Nashville music scene, Yoakam moved to Los Angeles to try his hand at perfecting the Bakersfield Sound of his idol Buck Owens. After breaking into the spotlight with his debut 1986 album Guitars, Cadillacs, Etc. Etc., Yoakam continued to release hit albums throughout the 1980s and 90s. Along with music, Yoakam has also taken time out acting, having notable roles in the films Sling Blade, Panic Room and Crank. His duet with the late Buck Owens, "The Streets of Bakersfield", reached #1 on the country music charts.
