Dwight Gooden is a former Major League Baseball pitcher. Gooden started his professional career when he was drafted by New York Mets in 1982. Gooden, who had struggled with injuries and drug abuse late in his career, played in his final game on September 29, 2000.

Dwight Gooden was born on November 16, 1964 in Tampa, Florida. He attended Hillsborough Highschool and then was drafted by the Mets in 1982. During his career, he played for the New York Mets, New York Yankees, Cleveland Indians, Houston Astros and Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Gooden earned the National League Rookie of the Year award in 1984, the National CY Young award in 1985, and he was named to the National League Silver Slugger team in 1992. He is also a four-time All-Star selection and was the youngest All-Star selection in baseball history at the age of 19.
