  • NHL Career

Penner was signed as a free agent by the Anaheim Ducks in 2004 and made his NHL debut in the 2005-2006 season, during which he earned 16 points in 19 regular season and 13 post season games. He was a full time member in the Ducks' lineup the following season, during which he played in every game and scored 32 goals, including two playoff game winners, to assist the Ducks in their Stanley Cup win.

As a restricted free agent, Penner accepted a five-year $21.25 million contract with the Edmonton Oilers. The Ducks were unwilling to match the offer, so Penner moved to Edmonton and earned a career high of 47 points in the regular season during his first year with the Oilers.
