Dust Mites
Most homes are occupied by dust mites. These Microscopic, eight-legged creatures are not parasitic and don't bite, but they do burrow under the skin. People are commonly allergic to dust mites. This poses a problem as sneezing, itching, Hay fever, watering eyes, runny nose, respiratory problems and asthma are just some of the repercussion of an allergic reaction due to dust mites. Allergist's, medical doctors who specialize in this field can diagnose and treat allergic conditions. The allergic reaction occurs when dust mites release allergens in their feces, which, when airborne, can be inhaled by people. The bedroom can be a breeding ground for dust mites as the average human sheds about 1/5 ounce of dead skin we week. Combine this with the fact that the average human also sleeps one-third of their lives and it’s easy to see why dust mites are so often associated with the bedroom.
