Duncan Sheik

Duncan Sheik is a Grammy-winning singer-songwriter and composer who released his first album in 1996 on Atlantic Records. While his career as a recording artist has gained a small but committed following, he has come to greater prominence as a Broadway composer, having collaborated with playwright Steven Sater to write the music for the 2007 Tony Award-winning musical Spring Awakening. The Spring Awakening soundtrack also won the 2008 Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album. Sheik and Sater met and started their collaboration through the Soka Gakkai international Buddhist movement, of which they are both adherents.
