    Growing up in San Diego, Duke Preston came from a football family. His father Raymond was a standout collegiate linebacker for Syracuse University and played nine years for the San Diego Chargers. Preson played college football for the Illinois Fighting Illini in the NCAA. After college, he was selected 122nd overall in the 2005 NFL draft by the Buffalo Bills.

    In Buffalo, Preston played in 59 games, starting 20, mostly as a special teams player, and also holding duty as a reserve lineman.
