  • Duffy is a Welsh soul singer-songwriter who was discovered on the Welsh equivalent of American Idol called Wawffactor in 2003. She placed second in the competition, but continued to perform throughout the UK. Her debut album, Rockferry, was released in March 2008. It was produced by Suede's ex-guitars Bernard Butler.

    In 2007, Duffy signed a recording contract with A&M Records. Her debut album, Rockferry, was released on March 3, 2008. The album sold 180,000 copies the first week it was released in the UK. Rockferry was released in the U.S. on May 13, 2008. To promote the albums release, Duffy performed at New York's Apollo Theater and appeared on [[Live! with Regis and Kelly]], Ellen and Late Night with Conan O'Brien.

    In, 2009, Duffy was nominated for Best New Artist, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and Best Pop Vocal Album at the Grammy Awards.Official Site: 2009 Grammy Nominations She also won three BRIT Awards for British Female Solo Artist, British Breakthrough Act and the Mastercard British Album of the Year for Rockferry.
