DreamWorks Animation is an American animation studio formed by the merger of DreamWorks SKG and Pacific Data Images. It has released such well know films as Shrek, Bee Movie, Shark Tale, Madagascar and Over the Hedge. Originally a part of DreamWorks SKG, it was spun-off into a separate public company in 2004. Their films are currently distributed through Paramount Pictures who acquired DreamWorks SKG in February 2006. The company maintains two studios: the original animation studio in Glendale, California and the Pacific Data Images studio in Redwood City, California. Since 2004, the company has committed itself to make two computer-animated feature films a year.
