• Dream Theater is a Progressive Metal band from New York City consisting of John Petrucci (guitar), Mike Portnoy (drums), Jordan Rudess (keys), James LaBrie (vocals), and John Myung (bass). Formed by Petrucci, and Myung, when they met Portnoy at Berklee College of Music in Boston, they soon left school and headed to New York to focus entirely on Dream Theater.

  After numerous lineup changes and a seemingly fruitless search for a lead singer, the band hooked up with LaBrie and soon inked a deal with ATCO Records. They got plenty of radio and TV exposure with their second single, "Pull Me Under," from the 1992 debut album, Images and Words. The next decade saw the band release a steady stream of albums, tour regularly, and take part in several side projects.

  Dream Theater's tenth studio album, Black Clouds & Silver Linings, was released on June 23, 2009.
