Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 2 is the second in the Raging Blast series, it was developed by Spike software developer for Namco Bandai. Released on November 4th, 2010 for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms and has been improved on over the original title, Dragon ball: Raging Blast released on November 10th, 2009.

With Dragon Ball: Raging Blast, you were given the opportunity to take control of your favorite character and lay down ki-infused attacks on the opposition. For the upcoming sequel, Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 2, developer Spike Co. Ltd has listened to fan feedback and has made a range of improvements. You take control of one of 90 characters from the Dragon Ball universe, 20 of whom are new to the series. The gameplay is standard fighter fare, albeit on a larger scale with heaps of Saiyan powers thrown in. This means you can engage in hand-to-hand combat in midair, fire off a bunch of kamehamehas, and transform into a super Saiyan. Each environment has destructible elements, so you can smash opponents into rocks and create huge craters in the earth using your powers.

In addition to the 90 characters available each character can be customized with items won through playing the game. Each character has a galaxy mode in which you fight against characters in a scenario and earn rewards and items that you can use to customize your character. These can range from cosmetic items that change your clothes or ki color, to character specific items that enhance your special or ultimate attacks, or even items that hinder you ability to progress. In addition to items each characters special attacks can also be customized. This allows players to choose what attacks they think are best, form a unique strategy with their chosen customization, and work on button placement so they can easily maneuver their character.

Tutorial One

First Tutorial is on how to jump, fly and dash. There are several ways to dash and fly all of which are basically different speeds and if you want to home in on your opponent or move away from them.

Tutorial Two

The second tutorial is on how to melee attack. This includes attacking with a basic combo and a more advanced combo, aswell as how to attack while in pursuit of an enemy.

Tutorial Three

The third tutorial is how to defend. This includes blocking attacks, recovering when you have been knocked down, deflecting ki blasts and stopping a throw attempt.

Tutorial Four

This tutorial is how to charge up your ki. Ki is used to perform ki attacks and special attacks. You gain ki by attacking or by charging it up.

Tutorial Five

This tutorial focuses on special attacks. Each character has a group of special attacks he can perform that are unique to that character. In addition if you have a team mate that you are close in level with you can use that team mate to perform a team attack.

Tutorial Six

This tutorial focuses on the change palette. The change palette lets you change characters or transform while in battle. In addition this tutorial also teaches the player about a tie, if two players home in on each other and collide or fire a ki shot at each other there is a special screen that takes place to see who is the victor of the exchange.

Starts off with a battle against a Saibaman. He is very basic and should not be a problem. Get used to how things work, how the camera moves and how to chase and avoid your opponent.

Stage 2 is Zarbon. Use this battle to learn about your timing. Each attack leaves you vulnerable to a counterattack after it finishes, some attacks leave you more vulnerable than others. When he is down to his last health bar Zarbon will transform. He is still not difficult to defeat even after this transformation.

Stage 3 – Dr. Gero is more powerful than what you have seen thus far but still you should be able to take him easily. You will notice that he blocks a considerable amount of time, use a charged up attack to break his block or throw him to get around it.

Climax Stage – Vegeta. Vegeta is the boss of this stage. Vegeta is very aggressive so make sure you block his attacks, also do not charge at him as he will be waiting for you and will unleash a combo before you get a chance to move. Instead block his attacks and start a combo of your own when he is vulnerable. Keep working on building up your combos and you will come out on top.

Stage 1 – Krillin is tougher than he looks but he is not as aggressive as Vegeta. Take the fight to him and attack ferociously. Your pursuit attacks will be lost during this fight so keep your opponent next to you to beat on him.

Stage 2 – Android # 14 Still no pursuit ability allowed so try and keep your opponent from being knocked away, work on your combos and smash attacks. Your opponent will back away and try to attack from a distance, use your homing dash and smash attacks to reduce the gap but be wary of his special attacks.

Stage 3 – Android #18 this is a good fight to try and power up in. Transform and play around with the various abilities and remember you have the option of changing your characters levels and customizing your characters as you see fit. There is a lot of destructible environment in this level so have some fun throwing 18 around a bit and destroying the town.

Climax Stage – Frieza, the boss of this level is Frieza, once again you fight in the city so knock him through a few buildings for fun. Frieza starts off with full ki and in tension mode. Move away behind a building and gather your ki to match him, then power up to your favorite stage and then start to blast Frieza up close and personal. Keep the pressure on Frieza and you can defeat him easily.

Stage 1 – Guldo is fairly easy, the little butter ball will roll around the level as you hit him just keep after him and keep attacking. After he loses a health bar he will use Guldo’s Pose to power up but there is nothing to fear here.

Stage 2 – Cell 1st Form, Cell will block a lot so try and throw him but you have to be quick or he will throw you instead. Try and turn Cell around and then rip into him with a high damage combo.

Stage 3A – Vegeta Super saiyan 3, next you have a choice in your path. Vegeta Super Sayan 3 has a good amount of health but is not terribly difficult to defeat. Don’t give him a chance to gain ki and keep attacking to win this fight.

Stage 3B Broly Super Saiyan 3, like all powered up characters Broly Super Sayan 3 will hit hard but he is fairly slow for this level of the game. Knock him down and transform to your favorite level, then go after Broly, knock him down and don’t let up, he can be a locomotive if he gets going so shut him down first.

Stage 4 – Piccolo starts out with five health bars, full ki and in high tension mode. As soon as the fight starts he leaps into the air. Move into the water or behind a mountain to gain time to transform and build up your ki. Once you are in the form you want take the fight to Piccolo. Keep the pressure on as much as possible. If he turns you around or starts to get the upper hand try and disrupt him by using a vanishing attack or backing off a bit. Then once his chain is broken reengage him.

Stage 1 – Chiaotzu is very small and fast. He will block and dodge very well and is fairly hard to actually land a blow. Conversely his attacks are very weak and do very little dame so keep hitting him and work on getting your Ultimate attacks to connect during this fight.

Stage 2A – Raditz is fairly weak and slow so work on your timing and hitting. Keep practicing those ultimate attacks, they can be difficult to hit and charge up but when they do you can do a lot of damage in one blow.

Stage 2B – Cui is very fast and quite good at dodging but is fairly weak so he is not much of a threat. Knock him to the ground and pummel him to build up you ki as you are still restricted to a slow ki charge. Then go into high tension mode, the slow ki charge does not apply to your tension charge, and unleash your ultimate attack two or three times to finish him off.

Stage 3A – Goten Super Saiyan, Goten is very fast but he does not hit that hard and he is not very aggressive as such he hangs back and blocks a lot. When he blocks charge up an attack to break him or grab him to throw him then follow up with a combo while he gets up and is unable to block.

Stage 3B – Kid Trunks Super Saiyan is very fast and quite good at dodging, his physical attacks are moderately weak but he will fly around and hide behind obstacles to attack you with his special attacks. Since he is not restricted to the slow ki build up charge in and go for a close melee game, keep the pressure high and then build up your tension when he is on the ground, then knock him down again before you try your ultimate attack as he is very maneuverable and does use the stage to his advantage. If you miss with your ultimate attack quickly raise your tension again then move in closer so he has les room to maneuver and try again.

Stage 4– Cooler Final Form, like all the bosses he has five health bars and starts out in high tension. Knock him around a little with your combos to build up your ki as this stage has a slow ki build up, then when your ki is full ad he is on the ground chatge up your tension. When your tension is full unleash your ultimate attack, hopefully you have been practicing and are now quite adept at using it. This should knock at least one if not two health bars off. If Cooler jumps into the air follow him and work on getting up close to him or whatever your characters ideal distance is and then using your ultimate attack, you do only have a finite amount of time in high tension mode but you do have a little time so choose your shot.

Stage 1 – Trunks is very strong and very aggressive, do not let him get behind you before the battle or you will lose a lot of health. In addition Trunks starts with five health bars so what you have to do is turn him around or get behind him to knock him around a bit, get your ki charged up and then back off. Charge up your tension and unleash your ultimate attack as mush as possible to put him down quickly.

Stage 2 – Recoome is not as easy as you would expect. He starts again with five health bars and is fairly strong though quite slow. After you knock off a few health bars he will use Recoom’s Pose to lower his ki consumption so beware as he does use a lot of ki attacks, also he will try and get into ki tension or rage mode and come at you physically. When he charges get your ultimate attack ready and unleash as he makes his approach.

Stage 3 – Nail is a fairly good close quarters fighter but not good at moderate to long distances. Figure our where you would prefer to fight and what your special and ultimate attack ranges are then try and stay in that area. When you charge your ki so will Nail, come out of the charge with a special or ultimate attack to catch him offguard and deal massive damage.

Stage 4A – Bojack Full Power is fairly tough but slow. This is a great time to brush up on combos and pursuit attacks if you have gotten rusty fighting all those quick opponents. Bojack tacks a good amount of damage to put down but it really only gives you more time to work on your moves as he is not much of a threat.

Stage 4B- Broly legendary Super Sayan is similar to his third form, strong but not very fast. In addition he is not very aggressive and gives you plenty of time to power up and fire off some Special attacks and ultimate attacks. Beat on him quickly and then let him back off while you charge up and finish him with your ki attacks.

Climax – Dabura is fairly fast, fairly tough and fairly strong. This makes him a well rounded character. In addition he does not charge in blindly and attack nor does he give you time from a distance, he plays an even game and is very good at countering. Use this fight to work on your countering abilities as they will only become more important as time goes on. Be aggressive with Debura and keep him moving, eventually he will miss and you can turn him around to land a lot of blows and maybe even an ultimate attack, but don’t expect him to give you a lot of time, you have to be fast.

Stage 1 – Android # 19 is fairly slow and weak but aggressive. He will not give you a lot of time to charge up so beat him down in order to replenish your ki and use your special attacks. Knock him to the ground or blast him away to buy some time to charge up your tension meter and then use an ultimate attack to do a lot of damage, his defenses are very low.

Stage 2 – Cell Jr. is very quick and very aggressive. With his small stature he is hard to catch with a lot of attacks and has several special attacks that can be used close up. In addition he will also try and maneuver behind you, use this to your advantage to turn around and catch the little guy in the act, then knock him away and charge up your ki. Keep this a distance game, as he suffers in that area, and you will win.

Stage 3 – Cooler is aggressive but not that quick or that strong. This fight is a bit easier than the last one as Cooler gives you plenty of time to charge up your ki. Since you have time and he is not a threat up close choose your distance and fight him to your play style.

Stage 4A – Goku is a balanced character in strength, speed and endurance. He will however block a lot and use his special attacks so keep this a distance match. Goku will give you lots of time as he likes to charge up as well and he will slowly make his approach up to you, keep him at a distance and blast him to win.

Stage 4B – Bardock is decently fast but weaker than some of the other opponents you have faced. He will try and keep this battle alternating between mid and close combat but he is not very aggressive so you can dictate the terms of this fight. Be aggressive and you will be able to defeat him without a problem.

Stage 4C – Turles is faster tan Cooler but not as strong. He is, however, very good at the vanishing counter attacks so use this fight to brush up on your counter abilities. This fight lasts a while just because he counters so much but since he is not much of a threat damage wise choose where you want to fight and let him have it.

Stage 5 – Kid Buu will not block as much as Goku but he will block your attacks from a distance so keep this match a melee encounter. If you do back off Kid Buu will attack with his special attacks and he will power up and use his ultimate attack so be careful. Keep it to close quarters and be aggressive to win this match.

Stage 1 – Videl is not very strong but she is aggressive. She will chase you and try to bring the fight into close quarters. Either fight her off in close quarters, countering to get behind her to attack, or keep her at a distance and use your ultimate attacks to finish her.

Stage 2 – Broly Super Saiyan is sturdy and strong but he is not fast. Use this as an opportunity to work on countering, blocking and recovering as well as your super and ultimate attacks. Since Broly is so slow and not very aggressive you have the choice of where you want to and how you want to fight this match.

Stage 3A – Nappa is not very strong or fast but he does block a lot. In addition he also counters very well. Make sure you are good at countering, blocking and recovering during this fight. Since Nappa is so weak he will land a lot of blows but do minimal damage in the process, work on throwing your opponent and countering to get the best of this fight.

Stage 3B – Zarbon Post Transformation is fast but not very strong or aggressive. Zarbon will periodically fly away and start to charge, when he does so charge up, he will come flying back in and you can nail him with a super or ultimate attack.

Stage 4A – Cell Perfect Form is very fast and strong, in addition he counters very well but is not very aggressive. Take this fight to whatever distance you are comfortable with but be aggressive. Cell will dodge and vanish a lot but this will also use up his ki so he will spend a good amount of time charging up, when he does so try dashing behind him and attack physically to build up ki, then blast him any way you want.

Stage 4B – Ultimate Gohan is very strong and fast. He is far more competent than a lot of he fighters you have seen. Gohan is not very aggressive and will try and keep the battle at mid range but if you charge up he will home in on you and start a melee battle, don’t underestimate his melee abilities, at the end of the combo he will knock you down and hit you with a super attack while you are prone. Counter his combos and attack to build up you ki, then knock him down and charge up for an ultimate attack while he is on the ground.

Stage 5 – Super Janemba is decently strong and fast but his reach is impressive with the sword he uses. Unfortunately for him he is not too aggressive and does not block much, use this to your advantage and be the aggressor. Janemba will not let you charge however and he will come charging in to stop you, dodge or block his attacks and lay into him.

Stage 1 – Trunks (Fighting Teen) Super Saiyan is very fast, strong and aggressive. He will also vanish and counter attack and will use his super attacks while up close so be prepared to dodge. Vanish and counter him when he attacks to work your way behind him for a devastating combo. Since he is so aggressive you should have plenty of opportunities to dodge and vanish in this battle, make sure you take advantage of them and put Trunks down when he is not looking.

Stage 2 – Android #16 is a strong opponent who can take a beating but he is not aggressive at all. He will start the battle by dashing around you at a distance, move up to him and attack. Be aggressive in this fight as Android 316 will only vanish occasionally and does not attack much. Bring the fight to him and you can defeat him easily.

Stage 3 – Frieza Stage 2 is fairly fast but not very strong or aggressive. Frieza will occasionally vanish and counter attack but he does not do much damage, counter him when possible and charge up as needed, Frieza will give you time while he charges up as well. When you are ready attack him with super and ultimate attacks to defeat him.

Stage 4 – Super Buu Gohan Absorbed is very strong and starts off in high tension mode but is not very aggressive. Super Buu will normally give you time to charge up your ki and will either charge up himself or blast small ki bolts at you, use this as an opportunity to practice deflecting ki bolts. When Buu starts to charge his ki up charge into high tension mode and blast him with an ultimate attack. Buu will counter occasionally in melee but not more than you have already seen, keep charging your ki and blast Buu away.

Stage 5 – Vegeta Super Saiyan 3 is very powerful, he is fast strong and uses his special attacks a lot. Vegeta will counter occasionally but not as much as some characters so be aggressive and try to keep this a melee battle.

Stage 6 – Super Gogeta is very fast and strong but not aggressive. Try and keep him at a distance to avoid some of his bigger combos and special attacks while you charge up your ki. He will charge you and fire small ki blasts but use that as your chance to fire off your special or ultimate attack and nail him for huge damage.

Stage 7 – Hatchiyak is very fast and powerful but he is predominantly a melee attacker. Try and separate yourself from him and use your special attacks and ultimate attacks from a safe distance. Be wary of his special attacks as they pack a powerful punch, keep on your guard.

This starts with a straight fight against Krillian. Krillian is a very basic opponent, very weak and slow and not aggressive. Try out your attacks and combos as well as throwing and pursuit attacks.

Yamcha and Tien will team up against you. Both are fairly easy fighters to beat so keep going and complete the combos you are asked for to score extra points while continuing to practice with your attacks.

Fight against Turels. He is another weak opponents so keep attacking. The only limit of this fight is the 90 second timer but that shouldn’t be hard to beat. Be aggressive and Turels will fall.

Mission 4 is a battle against three opponents. You are given 240 seconds to take out all three opponents. The time limit is not a problem, beat up on your first two opponents using melee attacks and special attcks, also use your new “Give me energy” special attack three times. By the time the third fighter shows up knock him down and build up your high tension status. Then unleash your super charged Spirit bomb to blow him away.

Mission 5 is against five opponents, you also have the added obstacle of your health constantly depleting. The ginyu force themselves are pushovers and none of them are difficult to beat, the problem is beating all five before your health runs out. You want to try and be at one and a half health bars when Captain Ginyu shows up so be aggressive and unleash constantly on your opponents.

Mission 6 is a straight fight against Cooler. Cooler is fast but not altogether powerful, keep beating on him and use your special or ultimate attacks to finish him off.

Mission 7 is a battle against two opponents. Each opponent will instantly power up when they are on there last remaining health bar. This is a much easier challenge than the last fight, you can even completely by pass it by beating your opponent down to just barely over one health bar and then using an ultimate attack to finish them off. Either way this fight is not difficult.

Mission 8 is a boss fight against Vegeta. Vegeta will keep getting more difficult and gaining ki as the fight continues so try and end it as fast as possible. Beat Vegeta to the ground and power up your spirit ball attack three times, then knock him down and build up your tension. Once your tension is full unleash your spirit bomb to finish him off.

Mission 9 is a bonus mission, it does not have to be completed to claim a dragon ball. As such it is considerably more difficult than the other missions. This is a one against five fight, as the match starts power up to your favorite level, defeat Vegeta with normal and super attacks. Whenever you beat an opponent charge your ki, they will come in with zero ki and will also charge. Since you have more ki you will reach a level of high tension first, then unleash you ultimate attack. Do this for each enemy and you can cripple them before they even get a chance to attack.

Mission 10 is a bonus mission where you are timed to see how many opponents you can beat. There is really no way to lose this fight, just play around and try all the moves you want on your under powered opponents.

Mission 1 is an introductory fight against Raditz. Complete the combos requested and then finish Raditz off, your health will constantly recover and you start in a ki rage.

Mission 2 is against Goten. This is still an introductory fight so keep learning about your moves and seeing what you like and what you want to change.

Mission 3 is against two opponents, on the plus side your energy constantly recovers but negatively you start near death. If you have the item to cancel the near death start equip it in the custom select screen to make this battle a lot easier, you receive this item during Goku’s Galaxy missions.

Mission 4 is a fight against a series of Coolers. Cooler himself is not too challenging bit fighting them one after another can be taxing and can wear you down. Defeat the first Cooler and then charge up as the next one flies in and blast it with a super or ultimate attack.

Mission 5 is against three opponents. As time progresses the opponents become more and more challenging, thus do not let this battle go long. Take the fight to your opponents and unleash on them early and often.

Mission 6 is against three opponents that are easy in difficulty. The real challenge here is the ninety second time limit. You have to beat the first two opponents in sixty seconds, the third opponent will block and counter and run away, don’t try anything fancy just the basic combo over and over until you build up your tension and then ultimate attack him, its very difficult to do it fast enough but keep trying.

Mission 1 against Kid Gohan is just to get used to your moves. Practice with piccolo and see what his abilities and special attacks are.

Mission 2 is against Raditz and Nappa, this is still an easy fight. Just keep practicing with Piccolo using his special and ultimate attacks.

Mission 3 is against Cell first form, there is a timer of 120 seconds while your opponent becomes high tension when two health bars remain and he becomes more difficult with time. Start this fight on the offensive attacking cell and knocking him down, then charge up to high tension. When you have knocked Cell into his high tension unleash your ultimate attack to end the fight.

This is a bonus mission against Chiaotzu, Yamcha, Tien and Pikkon. This is an easy fight and is just fir fun, see how many hits you can land before your opponents are defeated, your health will keep regenerating too, just to make it extra easy.

Mission 5 is a fight against Dr. Gero, you start near death unless you have the item that cancels that status. If you do equip it and make this fight a calk walk, if you don’t then try and stay far away from your enemy and attack when he charges towards you.

Mission 6 is another bonus mission. Here you must defeat three enemies Turles, Cooler and Broly in 180 seconds. This should not be difficult, just keep attacking and be aggressive, build up your ki in the first fight and unlesh aan ultimate attack as soon as the second fighter enters. Then charge your ki when the third fighter enters and unleash another ultimate attack.

Mission 7 is a bonus mission against a saibaman. Here you are challenged to see how much damage you can do in a single combo, your ultimate attack will probably be the highest. Your opponent will constantly regenerate health, don't worry when the timer runs out you automatically win.

Mission 8 is a straight fight against two opponents. After all the weird rules you have gone through this is very easy. Fight off your opponents and work on your custome build to suit your play style.

Mission 9 this is a fight with Android #17 but during the fight your health will constantly be decreasing. Equip items that raise your health to help you last longer against your opponent.

Mission 10 is against Goku. This is another bonus mission, here Goku will start from a raging soul status and his health will constantly recover. You are challenged to see how much damage you can deal in 120 seconds. Stay alive and use your super and ultimate attacks to rack up the damage.

Multi-player Single battle is a one on one fight against two chosen contenders. Either one person can fight against a computer or two people can play against each other. Choose your own characters, custom or stock, level, and rules to play by.

Multi-player team battle is just like single battle but you can now have up to ten fighters in total. Each team is allowed to have five fighters and yo are allowed to mix any hero and villain or duplicate that you want. Each team may contain up to five fighters but yo can also fight with as little as one, for example you can fight a one versus one, one versus three, one versus five or up to a five versus five battle.
