Dragon Age 2 - The Bone Pit is a side quest for a merchant in Hightown. For this walkthrough, players will venture into a mine called the "Bone Pit", and clear out the dragon threat within, so that the miners can return back to work. The quest is significant for a tough boss-level encounter with a Mature Dragon at the end.

1. Accept the letter from the writing desk to get this quest. It should show up after you've completed the Birthright quest.
2. Note: It may be a good idea to grab a second healing mage before you heado ut for this quest.
3. Head to Hightown's merchant area as directed and speak with the highlighted NPC there.
4. Accept his quest.
5. Head out to the Bone Pit, outside Kirkwall on the World Map.
6. Kill the looters outside the mine and head in.
7. You will face some dragonlings inside the mine, but they are pretty weak. The Dragons a much tougher. Make sure to keep your tank on them as they hit quite hard and you don't want them to attack your casters.
8. Continue heading deeper into the mine.
9. Head deeper in after the cutscene.
10. Here, you will have to fight a tough boss-type enemy; a Mature Dragon.
11. The most key thing for this fight is to have at LEAST 1 (preferably 2 ) healers, as the dragon hits hard and has a lot of health points. Put your tank on the dragon, and start killing it, making sure to use the best single-target abilities of your characters while keeping your tank alive. Also, make sure to position your group accordingly to avoid any AOE attacks, such as the breath. Potions are also very handy here.
12. Loot the dragon and head back to Hightown to turn in the quest.
13. Note: You can decide to take or reject the man's offer. If you accept, you will start making more cash, but also gain more quests to do.
