The second part of this Dragon Age 2 walkthrough follows the player into the City of Kirkwall, where the majority of the game occurs. Players will do a number of small quests to start their rise to power inside the city, before jumping a year in game time. 

1. Level up your characters after the cutscene, and speak with the guard blocking the way. He will tell you to speak with the Captain. Head past the guard up the stairs and follow the pathway right all the way into the large opening.
2. Speak with the Captain.
3. Assist the guards with the hostile Deserters.
4. Speak with your Uncle. You will have to work for a mercenary group in order to get into the city. Follow your Uncle and Mother to speak with the Mercenary leader.
5. Follow your mini-map to the noble and speak with him. No matter what you say, he will try to kill you. Once again, pause the game and do the typical assignments – send your tank on the noble, have your Mage start casting Fireball on groups of enemies, and start attacking the noble yourself.
6. Note: if your characters are dropping to low health too fast, use the Heal from your Mage character manually, or go to tactics for your Mage and set the healing % to something higher. Generally speaking however, you shouldn’t have to manually control all your characters through pausing and issuing commands until much later in the game, where the fights will become more challenging.
7. Report back to Meeren.
8. Speak with your Uncle again.
