    Before the industrial age, draft horses were commonly found on farms across North America. Today, draft horses are mostly just for show, found at pulling competitions or pulling large wagons. The Amish still find a day-to-day need for the draft horse to help provide substantial food through plowing and transportation. The draft horse is also used for cross breeding techniques, particularly in the development of thoroughbreds.
