Synopsis
Dracula is a novel composed of diary entries, telegrams, letters and fictional news clippings from the book's characters about Count Dracula.
Johnathan Harker traveled by train and carriage from England to Count Dracula's castle in Transylvania to provide legal support in a real estate transaction. Harker soon discovers he has become a prisoner of the castle and begins to see what the life of the Count is really like and seeks a way to escape and barely succeeds.
The story goes on to follow the events of the Count and his life as people like Van Helsing try to destroy him.
Critical Reception
"Dracula, a chilling masterpiece of Gothic horror, was first published in 1897 and has never been out of print since. Although it was not the first story about a vampire, it became the most well-known and has since had a huge impact on popular culture as respectful interpretation as well as imitation and parody. It has been estimated that over 1,000 films have been inspired by the Dracula story." — Masterpiece Theatre
