Background
In addition to his work as a neurosurgeon, Gupta wrote the book Chasing Life, a New York Times bestseller. He also writes a column for Time magazine and can be seen as a regular guest on Anderson Cooper 360.
Controversy
On July 9, 2007, Gupta challenged the accuracy of the Michael Moore documentary Sicko on Anderson Cooper's show, arguing that the film portrays European and Canadian health care as an unrealistic "medical utopia." His comments sparked a response from Moore, which were later posted on Moore's website, accusing Gupta, along with CNN, of bias. Their dispute led to a live debate on Larry King Live a day later.
