Dr. Phil Show Bail

Categories: Celebrity Gossip | News | Tabloids
  • On April 11, 2008 the Dr. Phil daytime talk show posted a reported $33,000 bail for Mercades Nichols, one of the eight girls arrested for kidnapping and beating Victoria Lindsay.

A Dr. Phil show about the case was in the works, and during the process of booking guests, employees admittedly "went beyond guidelines" in helping Nichols post bond. As a result, Dr. Phil will not be going ahead with the episode.

After posting the bail, the employee allegedly stood by the jail's exit and attempted to block other news outfits from obtaining footage of Nichols and her family, claiming that he had an "exclusive" on the story.

The incident was confirmed by Dr. Phil spokesperson, Terri Corigliano, who said the following during a statement on April 13, 2008:

    • "We have helped guests and potential guests in the past when they need financial assistance to come on the show...In this case, certain staff members went beyond our guidelines. These staff members have been spoken to and our policies reiterated. In addition, we have decided not to go forward with the story as our guidelines have been compromised."
