Dr. Conrad Murray is a cardiologist and a specialist in Internal Medicine who has licenses to practice in California, Hawaii, Nevada, and Texas as well as offices in Houston, Texas and Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born in Grenada on February 19, 1953 and raised by his grandparents. Murray graduated from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee in 1989. Dr. Murray was treating pop music icon Michael Jackson at the time of the singer's death. Dr. Murray has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in Jackson's death and has been released on bail pending trial. The charges allege that Dr. Murray administered a lethal combination of drugs and that he administered the drug propofol in an improper environment without the proper monitoring procedures in place. The California Attorney General has begun procedures to restrict Dr. Murray’s medical practice in the state of California until the trial proceedings have concluded. On August 18, 2009 Dr. Conrad Robert Murray released a video online thanking his patients and friends for their e-mails and telephone messages. In his first public comment since Jackson's death on June 25, 2009, Dr. Murray stated that what he has said is the truth and has that he has faith that the truth will prevail. Part of his message was also directed at letting his supporters know that their messages and faith meant a lot to him and his family, providing them with strength and courage.
