Dr. Amy Castillo is the mother of the three Baltimore children that were drowned by their father Mark Castillo in the Marriott Hotel on March 30, 2008. Amy Castillo's children, the victims, were Anthony age six, Austin age four, and Athena age two. Court records show that Amy Castillo and her ex-husband had an ongoing custody dispute.
Denied Orders of Protection
On December 25, 2006, Amy Castillo was granted a temporary protective order against Mark Castillo, after she wrote in court documents that her husband threatened to punish her by killing the children, a permanent protective order was denied by the presiding judge Joseph Dugan, on January 10, 2007. The judge decided that the order was unnecessary because there was "no clear or convincing evidence that the alleged acts of abuse occurred." Their divorce was final in February of 2008.
