The Dove Awards were created in 1969 by the Gospel Music Association to reward outstanding achievement in Christian/gospel music. The award ceremony features performances by new and popular artists within the Gospel scene.
The 2008 awards ceremony was held, as ever, at Nashville's Grand Ole Opry entertainment complex. Chris Tomlin and Natalie Grant were named male and female Vocalists of the Year, while Christian Rapper TobyMac took home the Artist of the Year award.
