Douglas Davis was born in Sacramento, California, on September 21, 1975. He attended college at City College of San Francisco. In 1996, Davis was selected by the Texas Rangers in the tenth round of the Major League Baseball amateur draft.Baseball-Reference.com: Douglas Davis

On August 9, 1999, Davis made his MLB debut with the Texas Rangers. In 2003, he was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays off of waivers and was later released and signed by the Milwaukee Brewers. He spent several seasons with the Brewers he was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2006.
