DoubleTwist is a website and software application that allows users to share and organize their media. The software also strips iTunes DRM data from music files, allowing them to be played on any compatible device.
In September of 2009, DoubleTwist released an ad satirizing a classic 1984 Apple ad. In the original version, advertising the Apple Macintosh, an Orwellian future of conformity is shattered by a female runner. In the new ad, a Steve Jobs lookalike is now depicted as the dictator, and all of his brainwashed followers wear the company's distinctive iPod earbuds.http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/09/29/doubletwist-remakes-apples-classic-1984-ad-with-a-new-dictator-steve-jobs/
DoubleTwist "1984" ad
This DoubleTwist ad satirizes on a 1984 commercial from Apple. The new ad subverts the old Apple ad by making a Steve Jobs lookalike into a "Big Brother" character and showing iPod users as victims of an authoritarian regime. The original ad was made to promote the Macintosh computer and was aimed at IBM users.
