In this video, Mahalo wedding expert Kat Keane explains the dos and don'ts for newly engaged couples planning their wedding.
Decide on Formality
Deciding on how formal you want your wedding to be will also help you decide your wedding budget. Don't be so quick to put down a deposit for everything right at the beginning; your tastes may change over time. The first things to take care of are the venue, the photographer and the wedding planner.
Time Your Invitations
Don't order your wedding invitations too soon. Three to four months before the day of the wedding is plenty of time. Until then, plan on what kind of colors and themes you want to use that best represent you both as a couple.
Involve Your Partner
Remember that this special day is for the both of you and should reflect both of your personalities both separately and as a couple.
Bring Both Families Together
Even if one family lives out of town, include them in some emails or small decisions. This will help everyone feel included and reduce tension. Conference calls are also great.
Don't Worry About Everyone Else
Your wedding day is only about two people: you and your fiancee. Don't worry about making anyone else happy. You'll stress yourself out and in the end, no one will truly be happy.
