  • Two plaintiffs, Walter Wagner and Luis Sancho, filed a doomsday machine lawsuit against CERN in an attempt to stop the Large Hadron Collider from operating. The lawsuit was dismissed on September 28, 2008. The judge ruled that the court had no jurisdiction over the LHC because it was run by CERN and operated in Geneva, Switzerland.
