Doom 3 Recycling Sector 2 and Monorail

Doom 3 Recycling Sector 2 and Monorail is the 9th part in the complete Doom 3 walkthrough featuring Recycling Sector 2 and Monorail levels.

Recycling Sector 2 Overview

TIP: Check everywhere in a room before leaving it - you might be missing valuable ammo or health.

Through the room and to your right is an entrance to a control room - there's a PDA inside and a control panel, use it to reactivate the primary pump systems. The area will go dark once you do, and Betruger will chat with you a bit. An Imp smashes through the window once he's done, so kill it and continue - there's several Imps outside as well. Head out through the broken window and on the far end of the room is a piston that you can ride to the upper level. Follow the path to the far end of the room and head through the door at the end.

There are two Imps outside the door to Hall 1B, and some Lost Souls for good measure. Another Imp will spawn behind you before you open the door to Monorail Access. Once you go in, grab the rockets, and open the security locker with 483. Imps will burst into the room, kill them, then move into the next room - kill the Imp, then the Fat Zombie, then focus your attention on the Revenant at the rear. Two Lost Souls attack when the Revenant falls - continue on to Storage Hall 1.

There's an Imp here, and some armor and ammo. Open the next door and an Imp will drop in front of you while a Revenant spawns behind you. Kill them, and then head into the Pipe Maintenance 1 area. Head across the catwalk and go downstairs, kill the Imp that spawns above you, and the Revenant that's below you. There's an ammo belt under the stairs, while to the left are some rockets and health. Move down the hallway, kill the Imp, and move into the narrower hallway.

On your right is a Fat Zombie, and past that is an Imp and more Zombies. A Revenant awaits you after that, on the left. The hall splits into two paths, so take the left one to Central Pipes Junction.

Head down the hallway and on the left, behind the fence, is a Health Station. Heal up if you need to, then head back and take the first left to move down a hallway to Storage Room 1. You'll spot two Lost Souls - blast them and kill the Imp and Revenant in back of the room (use the exploding barrels). When it's clear, head back to the Hazard Room Maintenance.

Down the hallway, two Imps spawn, one of which is behind you. Kill them, and keep moving to reach the Hazardous material Control room. Left of the door is a Zombie and ammo. In the middle of the hallway, along the left hand wall, is a control panel that unlocks the door you passed a while back - when you press it, two Imps and a Zombie spawn behind you. Spin, kill them, and backtrack to Storage Room 1. Kill the Lost Souls that have grouped here, and around the corner on your left is a Zombie, with a Revenant in tow.

Move down the hallway and to the right at the split to find the Central Pipes Junction - there's the door you just unlocked. Move to enter, kill the Imp and Revenant that appear, and enter the door. Head through the Hazardous Material room and kill the Revenant that comes through the far door.

Down the hallway, a bunch of Cherubs will come at you - stay back and let them move towards you, picking them off with the Shotgun. Once cleared, move down the hallway, and kill the Imp on your right. There's a Health Station around here, use it if you need to - when you finish, move to the Lower Levels Access. Kill the Imp upstairs and head towards the catwalk above you. Underneath you is another Imp, and a Revenant begins charging you from above. Kill them and keep moving to the Lower Lift area.

Call the lift, ride it down, and kill the Cherubs at the bottom. Move down the dark hall until it opens up and lighting is apparent - there's another Cherub inside, guarding some ammunition. Grab it, and head down the destroyed staircase to the Underground Hazard.

Move down the hallway and you'll hear the distinct noise of a Mancubus - these guys are tricky. Step into the main area to perform introductions, then dodge the rockets and kill the Mancubus using the tactics listed in the Beastiary. There's three of them back to back, so kill them all, and Cherubs will swarm out. Take them out, and move up the catwalk to the side of the room. At its end, around the left hand corner are more Cherubs and armor, ammo, and a Health Station.

Once you enter the Underground/Upper Level area, more Cherubs attack. Kill them, call the elevator, and ride it up to the Main Environment Control. You'll be surrounded with toxic gas, so run down the hall and activate all three control panels on the left as you go. When you hit the last of them, clean air is circulated through the room, and a Revenant attacks from the stairs. Kill the Revenant, grab the health and ammo that's back near the elevator, and head upstairs to grab a PDA. Head through the door to return to more familiar surroundings, turn left and open the door to the Monorail to complete the level.

Manually override the monorail airlock systems.

Monorail Overview

TIP: If you don't need a Medkit, leave it where it is. You might need it later.

Look around - there's no enemies here. There's ammo on your right, and a PDA. Grab them, then head into the monorail and go to the front of the train to activate it using the control panel. You'll ride across Mars Surface, and a man will come out and talk to you for a bit. Soon, the train will stop at Site 2 Boarding Platform.

There are no enemies in this room either, so as long as you don't open a door you're ok. Climb down any of the ladders to the area under the train to find health, armor, and ammo. Once you've stocked up, climb back up the ladder and open the door on your left. A Commando Zombie charges in, with a Z-SEC on his heels - dust them both, then step into the Site 2 Transfer Area.

Watch to your right, as four Z-SEC Zombies and an Imp will attack. Kill them, grabbing the health behind you if you need it. Downstairs, to the right of the door is a PDA that grants you more security clearance, so grab it, and head down the large hallway.

As you progress, you'll fight Z-SEC Zombies, Imps, and Commando Zombies. Take them down, and look to the left side behind some shelves for rockets. Turn right to the stairs, and head up them and down the hallway. You'll fight some Imps and another Commando Zombie at the end of the hallway. There's health and ammo under one of the staircases before you reach the catwalk above you. Move across the catwalk, and kill the Commando Zombie that comes in, then head through the door to another section of the Site 2 Boarding Platform.

As soon as you enter, a swarm of Trites will appear in the previous hallway from downstairs. Grab the PDA in here and use the code 142 to unlock the security cabinet for rockets and Shotgun shells, then use one of the computer monitors to override the airlock using the code 826. Head back downstairs to the train, and you'll find the swarm of Trites - kill them, enter the train, and use the control panel at the front to keep moving.

The monorail will crash, which means you wind up in the Delta Complex Walkway. Head up the ladder next to you and kill the Commando Zombie up top. Move across the walkway to find health if you need it, and step through to the Engineering Access hatch 08.

A Trite will crawl out from the hole ahead of you, and the more you walk, the more Trites come out of the various holes - run down to alert them, then head back out of the room to funnel them into an easy mass. Enter the Delta Complex Boarding area and a Commando Zombie will pass you - ignore him, climb down the ladder on your right, and grab the armor and ammo. Climb the ladder, enter the next door, and fight the Commando Zombie, the regular Zombie, and the Imp inside. Two more Commando Zombies will spawn in - dust them and move to the Monorail Waiting Area.

Open the door at the end of this hallway and backpedal while firing on the Commando Zombie that jumps at you. You can disable the alarm in this hallway before you enter the next area, by the way - it's annoying. Enter the Security Junction and open the door marked Monorail Security to find two Z-SEC Zombies. Head up the stairs and check the security room to find a PDA, then move to the Delta Approach West-Hall and kill the two Imps (one spawns in behind you, so be careful). Keep moving to the Delta Complex Walkway and across the hallway - a Commando Zombie charges through the door and an Imp will attack from behind before you get to the Delta Security Checkpoint - spin, take him down, and keep moving.

There's a security turret in the next room mowing down an Imp - unfortunately for you, its IFF system is fubar, meaning you'll be seen as a hostile too. Look across the room with your flashlight out and you'll spot two windows, one of which is smashed out - you'll need to dash across the room and hop through the window into the security room, avoiding the turret. Deactivate it by using the control panel here, and you'll get attacked by Imps for your trouble. Kill them, and open the security cabinets in back of the room with code 364 for health and ammunition. When you've stocked up, head down the hallway towards the deactivated turret to complete the level.
