Beastiary
- Below are the enemies you'll encounter in the game, as well as tactics to defeat each. They're listed mostly in order of appearance, along with their HP, melee damage dealt (if applicable), weapon damage dealt (if applicable), and which weapons work best on them.
Zombie Types
- Zombie enemies are re-animated humans who've come back with a bloodlust - they're no stronger than humans, but they are (being zombies) slower and less intelligent.
- YouTube: Doom 3 Zombies (Time: 1:26)
- Zombie: Basic enemy, you'll encounter one just about everywhere. You can bash their brains in with your flashlight if you want to conserve ammo.
- HP: 170
- Melee: 15
- Flashlight: 20
- Fat Zombie: Just like a regular zombie, only fat and more selective in weaponry. Shoot them in the head, or beat them with the flashlight.
- HP: 170
- Melee: 15
- Wrench: 20
- Z-SEC Zombie: Tougher and smarter than regular and fat zombies, which isn't saying much. Keep them far away and use headshots, or close up Shotgun blasts.
- HP: Differs per type, listed to the right of attack power below.
- Machine Gun: 3; 90
- Pistol: 4; 55
- Pistol/Shield: 6; 110
- Shotgun: 28; 90
- Flame Zombie: It's a zombie, but on fire. They're extremely fast, so take them down quick with the Shotgun.
- HP: 150
- Melee: 15
- Chainsaw Zombie: Rough and tough, these guys take more firepower to bring down. They're also fast, so take them down quickly with SMG fire to the face.
- HP: 250
- Chainsaw: 20
- Commando Zombie: They come in two styles: with a Chaingun or with a tentacle to beat you with. Kill them quick and from a distance, if possible.
- HP: Differs per type, listed to the right of attack power below.
- Tentacle: 12; 170
- Chaingun: 3; 225
Demons
- Demons are hellspawn that entered through portals; they aren't human. Some aren't even humanoid - they're stronger, faster, and smarter than zombies, but they still die.
- YouTube: Doom 3 Demons (Time: 4:00)
- Imp: Your generic demon, you'll see a lot of these guys. They have a weakness to Shotgun shells - use it to your advantage.
- HP: 130
- Melee: 8
- Fireball: 12
- Pinky: The bubblegum-colored bulldogs of Doom II are back, and freakier than ever. Circle them and blast them with a Shotgun.
- HP: 220
- Melee: 10
- Maggot: Disgusting little buggers, they jump to attack - meet them halfway with a blast from the Shotgun.
- HP: 80
- Melee: 6
- Jump: 16
- Trite: They attack in swarms, so cut through their numbers with an SMG or Chaingun.
- HP: 20
- Melee: 12
- Wraith: Just another ugly demon that isn't as tough as it thinks - shoot it in the face with a Shotgun after it materializes from teleporting.
- HP: 130
- Melee: 8
- Lost Soul: The things that possess the zombies you come across, they also attack without a host - although they're about as intimidating as a Trite.
- HP: 20
- Melee: 12
- Cacodemon: Slow, but strong, use the SMG to keep them away or a well-placed rocket.
- HP: 200
- Melee: 20
- Fireball: 12
- Revenant: Difficult, nasty enemies, Revenants fire rockets, can punch you in the face, and take a lot of bullets to put down. Dodge behind walls to avoid the rockets, and shoot them with the Plasma Gun.
- HP: 272
- Melee: 16
- Rocket: 10
- Cherub: Shoot them in the head, and they're toast. Creepy, but not tough.
- HP: 50
- Melee: 5
- Jump: 12
- Mancubus: Tough, ugly, and powerful - be thankful that they're slow. Circle them and keep dropping Shotgun shells on them, and they'll fall - at some point.
- HP: 1,000
- Fireball: 20
- Archvile: They summon Imps and Commando Zombies - that's bad. Add to that that they can throw fireballs and melee, and they're a pain. Use the Soul Cube, or a Plasma Gun.
- HP: 425
- Melee: 12
- Fireball: 20
- Hellknight: Oh, boy. Massively powerful, but thankfully slow. Use the Chaingun on their head, or just get in close with the Shotgun and work it like a surgeon.
- HP: 900
- Melee: 25
- Bite: 30
- Fireball: 30
- Tick: Like Trites, but stronger. Treat them like Trites, and they'll go down just as easily.
- HP: 200
- Melee: 50
Fighting Tips
- Below are some strategies for engaging the enemy, and a few general tips for getting through each section of the game.
- Learn to strafe - move side to side while keeping your reticule on the enemy, thus dodging them while inflicting damage. This is your best friend in a FPS.
- Be careful about taking cover - some objects are explosive. It defeats the purpose to hide from a fireball behind a canister that explodes, doing three times the damage.
- Interact with everything - read every PDA, talk to every person you see, etc. You'll learn valuable hints about upcoming bosses, or interesting background info.
- Enemies make noise - listen for growls in dark corners and hallways, and be ready. Each enemy makes a rather distinctive noise, so when you hear a certain noise, you'll know what gun to have out.
- Because of the way your character is designed, your feet aren't directly below your line of vision - they're slightly back, so jump a little later than you think you need to get across those large gaps.
