  • Major League Baseball All-Star pitcher Dontrelle Willis currently plays for the Detroit Tigers. He previously played for the Florida Marlins, where he made his MLB debut in 2003, then was traded to the Tigers in 2007. Renown for his excellent athleticism, Willis is also widely regarded as an excellent hitter and a legitimate power threat at the plate.

    Dontrelle Wayne Willis was born in Oakland, California on January 12, 1982. As a 12 year old, he holds the record for most home runs at Alameda little league with 15. He went on to attend Encinal High School where he continued to develop his baseball skills by playing on the school's team for all four years.

  • Pro Career

    Willis was an 8th round pick in the 2000 draft by the Chicago Cubs. He was later traded to the [[Florida Marlins and he would make his Major League Debut with in 2003. He would go on to win the National League Rookie of the Year for 2003, as well as the World Series. He would continue to develop into one of the most effective and intimidating left handed pitchers in the game today. He would be selected to the National League All-Star team in 2003, and 2005. In 2007, with the Marlins looking to trim payroll, he would be traded to the Detroit Tigers with fellow All-Star Miguel Cabrera
