Donnie Walsh spent 20 years as president and CEO for pro basketball's Indiana Pacers. On march 24, 2008, at age 67, Walsh announced that he would leave the organization, effective at the end of the 2007-2008 season. According to the Associated Press, Walsh's stated reasons for the move included a confusion of authority with president of operations Larry Bird, as well as sheer fatigue. However, other reasons for his resignation have been speculated, including the Pacers' record low attendance. Bird, the Hall of Famer and former NBA forward, will be Walsh's successor.
