Donnie Wahlberg was nominated for a Grammy award while a member of the boy band New Kids On The Block (NKOTB). The band sold more than 50 million albums in the late 1980s and early 1990s before breaking up in 1994. Donnie Wahlberg was born Donald Edmund Wahlberg in Dorchester, MA, and was interested in music at a young age. He was only ten when he joined his first band called Risk. He learned to breakdance and write his own raps, later joining a group called the Kool Aid Bunch. Wahlberg eventually connected with Maurice Starr, who helped form the group New Edition. Wahlberg was able to transition from the success he had with New Kids On The Block to becoming a successful dramatic actor.
