Donnie Brasco is based on the experiences of FBI agent Joseph D. "Joe" Pistone, who went undercover as Donnie Brasco to infiltrate an organized crime syndicate in the 1970s.
Plot Summary
Playing the role of aspiring gangster Donnie Brasco, FBI agent Joe Pistone (Johnny Depp) is befriended by veteran wiseguy Lefty Ruggiero (Al Pacino). As he quickly rises through the ranks of the mob and becomes close friends with Lefty, Pistone finds it increasingly difficult and dangerous to juggle his double lives.
