Christian-Christensen was born on September 19, 1945 in Teaneck, New Jersey.http://www.nlm.nih.gov/changingthefaceofmedicine/physicians/biography_62.html She earned her doctor of medicine degree in 1970 from George Washington University School of Medicine.http://www.nlm.nih.gov/changingthefaceofmedicine/physicians/biography_62.html Christian-Christensen completed her family medicine residency at Howard University Medical Center.http://www.nlm.nih.gov/changingthefaceofmedicine/physicians/biography_62.html In 1975, she worked as an emergency room physician in the Virgin Islands.http://www.nlm.nih.gov/changingthefaceofmedicine/physicians/biography_62.html During 1975 and 1976, she was a staff physician at the Maternal and Child Health Program.http://www.nlm.nih.gov/changingthefaceofmedicine/physicians/biography_62.html 

Legislation
