Donald Westlake was an American mystery author who wrote over one hundred novels and non-fiction books. Westlake died on December 31, 2008, from a heart attack. The New York Times reported that Westlake was on his way to a New Year's Eve dinner with his wife in Mexico when he suffered a heart attack.
