  • Donald Brashear is an American-Canadian ice hockey player, who plays for the Washington Capitals in the National Hockey League.

    Brashear received a six-game suspension on April 27, 2009, for incidents during the previous day's game against the New York Rangers. He hit Colton Orr before the game, earning the one-game suspension, then hit Blair Betts during the game, injuring him and earning the five-game suspension.USA Today: Capitals' Brashear Suspended Six Games for Hit, Antics

  • Early Years

    Prior to playing in the NHL, Brashear played in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League for the Longueuil College-Francais, starting in 1989. On July 28, 1992, he signed as an undrafted free agent with the Montreal Canadiens. Brashear then joined the Montreal Canadiens' American Hockey League affiliate, the Fredericton Canadiens. He made his NHL debut in 1993, playing 14 games with in Montreal. Brashear was then traded to the Vancouver Canucks on November 13, 1996.
  • Recent Years

    Brashear stayed in Vancouver until December 17, 2001, when he was sent to the Philadelphia Flyers. Two years later he was awarded the Pelle Lindbergh Memorial as the most improved player on the Flyers. Following the 2005-06 regular season, Brashear entered free agnecy and signed with the Washington Capitals on July 14, 2006. Most recently, in 2007, Brashear renewed his contract to stay with the Capitals for an additional year.
