Love him or hate him, Don Cherry's weekly Coaches Corner segments during Hockey Night in Canada on CBC Sports are easily the most popular segment of the weekly hockey broadcasts. The segment is known for Cherry's wardrobe and the bombastic delivery of his often controversial opinions. Still, he is wildly popular in Canada, and his Hockey Night segment is often described as "the best weekly 6 minutes of Canadian television". Prior to being a studio analyst, Cherry was successful head coach with the Boston Bruins.

The Wrath of "Grapes"
If you haven't watched any of his segments on HNIC, you owe it to yourself, even if you aren't a hockey fan. He wears outrageously flamboyant suits, and seems not to have any internal censor when it comes to matters regarding patriotism, hockey fundamentals, rules he doesn't like, French-Canadians and their desire for independence, the War in Iraq, and anything else on his mind. He prefers the 'old time' style of hockey (having released several videos under a "Rock'em Sock'em Hockey" title) and is always extolling the virtues of players that sacrifice themselves physically. He also is a tireless contributer to numerous charitable organizations, and his weekly tributes to fallen Canadian forces during his on-air segment led him to being awarded the Canadian Forces Medallion for Distinguished Service in 2008.
