    • Dolma is Turkish for "stuffed"
    • Stuffed grape leaves are called sarma
    • Can be served hot or cold
  • Dolma is a stuffed vegetable dish, common to Turkey, Greece, and surrounding countries. The filling can be meat, rice, a grain, or a mixture. Meat dolmas are generally served warm, while meatless ones are often served cold. Common vegetables used include zucchini, eggplant, tomatoes and bell peppers.
  • Sarma

While many Americans think stuffed grape leaves are dolma, they are in fact called sarma - the term for any dish in which leaves are wrapped around a filling. Other leaves that are used include cabbage and collard greens. In many areas, the fine distinction is not made, and both dishes fall under the name "dolma".
