  • Dogster is a social networking site where pet owners create profiles for their dogs. Dog profile features include "Favorite Food," "Favorite Walk," and "Pet-Peeves." In addition to dog profiles, the site offers a variety of resources for canine lovers, including profiles of adoptable dogs, "Doggie Diaries," videos, and a searchable online pet care guide entitled, Dog Owner’s Manual: Operating Instructions, Troubleshooting, Tips, and Advice on Lifetime Maintenance. As of April 28, 2008, there were 388,916 dogs registered on Dogster. Similar sites include Uniteddogs.com and Fuzzster.com.

  • Company History

    Dogster Inc., founded by CEO Ted Rheingold, launched the site in 2004, followed by a sister site, Catster. In 2006, the company received $1 million in investment, after a reported 13 straight months of profitability. Dogster Inc. makes money through premium memberships, advertising revenue and special events.
