In 2008 a group called Bark BuckleUp began in California to educate pet owners about the importance of belting up their dogs or cats. Their studies found that only twenty percent of pet owners actually restrain their animals when traveling in a vehicle. The group is urging pet owners across the country to think about the consequences of not protecting your pet or your passengers if you get in an accident.
