Doctor Zoidberg

Doctor Zoidberg serves as the in-house doctor for the Planet Express crew on the FOX animated series Futurama. Zoidberg is a decapodian, a red, lobster-like creature with claws rather than hands, a removable shell and four prehensile mouth flaps. Complacent, helpful and naive, Zoidberg views his co-workers as dear friends, although they generally exclude him from their activities and regularly mock him.

Zoidberg is perpetually hungry and desperately poor; he often scrounges food from the garbage and does not have a permanent home. It is unclear whether he gets paid for his services, which are called upon rarely, perhaps due in part to his apparent lack of physiological knowledge and questionable medical skills.

In his younger days, Zoidberg had aspirations of becoming a stand-up comedian like his famous Hollywood uncle, Harold Zoid.
