Doberman Pinscher

The Doberman Pinscher is a medium size dog with a smooth, short coat and a broad, well-defined chest with a show of muscles underneath the skin. Most Dobermans have their ears clipped, then taped to their head when they are approximately three months old. The ears are clipped to keep in the traditional look of a Doberman and if they are not clipped and taped, they will closely resemble the ears of a Hound dog. You can find Dobermans in many colors, there are solid black dogs, grey, blue, tan ans solid white. In some dog shows, the dogs with white markings are immediately disqualified because these markings are labeled as a visible fault in the dog. As beautiful as a black Doberman with the glistening short flat fur, the solid white Dobermans are equally as beautiful, if not more. No matter what color the Doberman is, you can expect an overly energetic dogs that can last for hours.

Temperament

These energetic, alert, fearless and protective of their master and even though they are fairly large dogs, they prefer to be indoors with the family. Once used as guard dogs or police dogs because of their size and loyalty, dobermans are considered safe and suitable pets for children and families. This is a very strong dog who need to be disciplined without wavering so that they will understand and adhere to the rules of the home. Some people report that their Doberman is somewhat aggressive toward others and they have no control over them. If this is accurate, it may be because the dog does not get enough exercise and or they were not properly trained. Most Dobermans are known for being mild-mannered and easy to get along with.

Common Health Problems

The Doberman Pinscher is prone to a several health problems that can become serious if they are left unchecked. There is the possibility of congenital heart disease and obesity when your dog get old.
