  • Russian professional hockey player Dmitri Kalinin most recently played for the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League.

  • NHL Career

    Kalinin was drafted 18th overall in the 1998 NHL draft by the Buffalo Sabres. Kalinin was assigned to the Rochester Americans, a Sabres' American Hockey League affiliate, where he played for the majority of his first two seasons. Kalinin made his National Hockey League debut in 1999 with the Sabres. He returned to Russia during the 2004-05 NHL Lockout to play one season for the Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the Russian Super League.

    In 2008, the Sabres announced that they would not renew his contract and would let him enter the free agency. Kalinin signed with the New York Rangers on July 3, 2008.
