Mbenga was signed as a free agent by the Dallas Mavericks in the 2004-2005 season. After three seasons with the Mavericks, he became an unrestricted free agent and was signed by the Golden State Warriors on November 17, 2007 under the direction of his former coach, Don Nelson. He became a free agent again on January 6, 2008 and signed a 10-day contract with the Los Angeles Lakers on January 21, 2008.
