Dixie Carter is an award winning actress became a household name in her role as sharp tongued interior design firm owning Julia Sugarbaker on the CBS sitcom Designing Women. Before Women Carter appeared in several television series including Filthy Rich and On Our Own. After Women Carter had recurring roles on the television programs Family Law and most recently on the ABC night time soap opera Desperate Housewives.

Carter is married to Academy Award nominated actor Hal Holbrook who also played her suitor on Designing Women.
